About SCCN

The Swisher County Network was established in 2003 with a Community Networking (CN3) grant. The objective was to provide Swisher County citizens with high speed internet connectivity and information about Swisher County History and Activities. To that end, 50 plus computers and monitors along with numerous printers, scanners, networking equipment, and assorted software was purchased with the grant. A community lab was set up in Tulia as a classroom with multiple computers, a projector, and white board. Classes on computer and software use with outstanding instructors were provided for anyone interested in learning about this technology. The lab was also open to the public for personal use at scheduled hours which allowed anyone with the desire to communicate via email or to do research the opportunity to use the lab at no cost. Volunteers were indispensable in having this public access. Computers, scanners, printers and networking equipment was provided to multiple sites around the county with each site responsible for providing a high speed internet connection and access for the public to the computers and connection on a regular scheduled basis.
